What is going on with the coverage of Lucas Helder? This young man is an alleged terrorist who injured several people. Where is the coverage of the victims? Or the impact the bomb scares have had on our nation?

Are we to believe the same treatment would be given to anyone of Middle Eastern descent? The shoe bomber was also described as a troubled young man, yet we considered him a viable threat even though he injured no one–the attempt was enough.

If Helder’s name were Mohammed instead of Lucas, I doubt we’d be reading pieces about how surprised his high school football coach is. As much as we like to ignore it, terrorism and violence come from all sides. And violence is equally unacceptable regardless of its origin.
