Margaret E. Larson, 87, of Des Plaines, a homemaker, died of heart failure Friday, May 10, in her home. Born and raised on a farm in Wanda, Ill., Mrs. Larson graduated from Wood River High School in Wood River, Ill. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper in a laundry and dry cleaning business in Wood River. Mrs. Larson sang with the Wood River Community Chorus, which performed at local schools. She married her late husband, Elder, in 1937 and they raised their family in South Roxana, Ill. The family moved to Martinez, Calif., in 1961 and to Houston in 1972. Wherever she lived, Mrs. Larson sang with her church choirs, said her daughter, Carol Hug. She and her husband were frequent travelers. “She loved to just get in the car and drive,” said her daughter. After her husband’s death in 1990, Mrs. Larson moved to Des Plaines. Mrs. Larson is also survived by five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, when a service will begin in G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines.
