Alexander Novinsky, 85, of Silverdale, WA, Senior Chief Boatswain Mate, U.S. Navy, Retired, beloved brother of Peter (Dorothy), the late Ann (the late Tom) Matulis, the late Anthony (Louise) and the late Steven (Sophie DeLaurentis); dear uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle; cherished friend of Gail (Wayne) Daniel, his devoted caregiver. Born Feb. 10, 1917 in West Frankfort, IL. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940. Served on the USS New York, USS Iowa and USS Hornet. Recipient of six Bronze Stars. Detached from active service in 1963. Retired in 1970 from the Fleet Reserve. Visitation Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Murman & Wilson in Johnston City, IL. Funeral 9 a.m. Thursday from Murman & Wilson to St. John the Baptist Church for 10 a.m. Mass. Donations may be made to St. John the Baptist School, 702 East Poplar St., West Frankfort, IL 62896.
