Eugene “Gene” Dowding, age 77, of Darien, IL passed away May 14, 2002, beloved husband of Bernadine, nee McClean; loving father of JeanMarie (Dale) McCormack, Amy-Jo (Wayne) Loek, Mariann Dowding (Kemmett Lipsch), Jennifer (Brent) Williams and Alyce (Mike) Kleisch; proud grandfather of Kali, Hannah, Rachael, AnnaRuth, Liam and Brenton; fond brother-in-law of Wm. J. (Sylvia) McClean and Caroline Dowding. Member of Darien V.F.W. Post 2838 and American Legion Chgo Post 231. Founder and President of Sprinkler Fitters Union #281 Retiree Club, and member of Moose Lodge. Served in WWII aboard oil tanker USS Tippecanoe. Preceded in death by Robert “Bud”, James “Ed”, William “Bill” and George Dowding. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Biedelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Drive, Naperville. Funeral service will be Friday at St. Paul United, 5739 S.
