Erma Kearney, nee Laszlo, born Dec. 16, 1916 in Dillonvale, OH to the late Elizabeth Lipot and John Laszlo; beloved wife of the late William R. Kearney; devoted mother of Susan (Darold) Person, Marsha (Jim) Kearney and Allen (Carolyn) Kearney; loving grandmother of James and Mark Person, William Kearney and Stephen (Kelly Walker) and Guy (Carmela) Tolvstad and great-grandmother of Sara, Danielle, Devin, Colin and Keegan; dear sister of the late Mary Ahrens, Betty Feys, Andy and Johnny Laszlo; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kearney started her business career as a legal secretary for several corporations in Cleveland, OH. In 1944 she joined the American Red Cross and was assigned to hospitals in England, France and Germany during WWII. While stationed in London, Lt. Laszlo met and later married MSgt William Kearney. After the war they returned to the U.S., residing in Evanston. Mrs. Kearney assisted her husband in the establishment of several businesses. Moving to Skokie they raised their family and became prominent in publishing and political life. Mrs. Kearney was an active Republican, a member of the Civil Air Patrol and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She worked for the Skokie Review and Morton Grove Champion newspapers and later for Lord & Taylor. After retiring she devoted the remaining years of her life to her family. Visitation Saturday 9 a.m. until time of Services at 11 a.m. at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Rd., Schaumburg. Interment Arlington Heights/Wheeling Twp. Cemetery.
