I am a middle-age, white, suburban woman who works near 95th Street and Stony Island. I would never call that neighborhood “gritty.” I shop there and drive through the area at all times of the day. It is a very middle-class area and I feel completely safe there.
I am offended by the article mentioned in Don Wycliff’s column. I wonder if it is racism or lazy reporting that causes such a thing to be written?
