Rosa C. Pena, 68, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Chicago, formerly of Rockford, died on May 16, 2002, in Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, after a short illness. Born July 11, 1933, in Laredo, TX, daughter of Felix and Guadalupe, nee Garza, Cano. Married to Miguel P. Rojas Sr. in Chicago, in 1981. She was employed as a caseworker for the Illinois Public Aid Department for over 30 years. Survivors include, husband Miguel P. Rojas Sr. of Chicago; daughters Nydia C. Weems of Swords, Ireland and Nadean C. (Martin) Brantner, D.C., of Byron and sons Robert C. (Toni) Rocha of Rockford and Rene C. Rocha of Rockford; grandchildren Jessie and Michael Weems of Decatur, AL, Paul, Joel and Allison Brantner of Byron, Kira, Tiffany, Joshua and Jacob Rocha of Rockford, Ashley, Gabriel and Dean Rocha also of Rockford; one great-grandchild Trayla; stepchildren Rudy (Susan) Pena, Angel (Sylvia) Pena and Miguel (Maria) Pena Jr., Madeline Pena and Tina Pena all of Chicago and Gus (Mercedes) Pena of South Pasadena, FL; several stepgrandchildren; sisters Lydia Cano of LaCoste, TX and Ruth Hawk of Arab, AL and brother Benjamin (Delores) Cano of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Patty Pira; and former husband and friend Robert M. Rocha. Predeceased by her parents; sisters Blanca Casso and Naomi Leos and brothers Felix Cano and Oscar Cano. Services at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2002 in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. with Pastor Scott Nesse of Maywood Evangelical Church officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2002 in Sunset Funeral Home.
