Robert E. Ruther, age 89, of Chicago, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 18, 2002. He served in WW II and had a 35-year career as a buyer for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In his younger years, Bob was an excellent bowler, an avid gardener and a talented pianist. But central in Bob’s life was his love and devotion to his close family. It was those times with his family that brought him the greatest joy. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Albena, nee Kasper; his three children, Christine (Robert) Hibbard, Nancy (Steven) Schwab, and Robert (Kelly) Ruther; his four adoring granddaughters, Lauren and Allison Hibbard, Anne Elise Schwab, and Abigail Marie Ruther. Funeral service, Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Edgar Funeral Home, 10900 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Lawn. Interment St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago.
