Elizabeth J. Mackey, 76, of Rolling Meadows, a retired bakery clerk, died of complications from cancer Wednesday, May 15, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Born in Highland Park, Mrs. Mackey graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge. She became a homemaker after she married in the mid-1940s. Her family moved to Rolling Meadows in 1957. Once her children were older, she began working at Heinemann’s Bakery in Dominick’s Finer Foods in Rolling Meadows in the late 1960s. Over the years, she managed the bakery in Rolling Meadows and in Mt. Prospect. Before she retired, she worked at Heinemann’s Bakery in Arlington Heights as a clerk until she retired in 1984. She is survived by her husband, John; sons Robert and John Jr.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. A mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 W. Palatine Rd., Inverness.
