Richard C. Drenth, 63, of Mears, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at his residence at Silver Lake. He was born March 22, 1939 in Oak Lawn, IL, the son of Christian B. and Elsie, nee DeVries, Drenth. The family moved to Evergreen Park, IL where he attended Evergreen Park Christian School. He graduated from Chicago Christian High School in 1957. Rich married Marilyn Jongsma April 17, 1959 in Oak Lawn, IL. He went to carpenter school in Chicago and worked as a builder in Chicago, Holland, MI and Hart/Mears areas. He also was involved in the family business, Clearing Disposal Company and Great Lakes Disposal. Rich was a member of Hart/Silver Lake Chamber of Commerce and attended Cornerstone Community Church. He was involved with Grace Youth Camp since 1970, serving on the board and worked in most areas of the camps functions. Mr. Drenth is survived in addition to his wife Marilyn; two sons, Rev. Thomas and Karen Drenth of Seattle, WA and Timothy and Lisa Drenth of Lake Village, IL; one daughter, Pamela and Rev. Richard Lantz of Roscoe, IL; nine grandchildren, Jessie, Joshua, Caleb and Anna Drenth, Christian, Emily and Laura Lantz, and Lydia and T. Issac Drenth; one brother, Bernard and Henrietta Drenth of Orland Park, IL and two sisters, Helen Borgman of Crestwood, IL and Shirley and Richard Dykstra of Crete, IL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Annamae Drenth; brother-in-law, John Borgman; two nieces, Kim and Nancy. Services for Mr. Drenth are Sunday, May 26, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Grace Youth Camp at Silver Lake with Rev. Thomas Drenth, Rev. Richard Lantz and Rev. Bob Hitchcock officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Tate Funeral Chapel in Hart. The family asks that in lieu of flowers friends direct memorials to either Grace Youth Camp or Muskegon/Oceana Hospice.
