Michael R. Murphy, 47, a carpenter, died Tuesday, May 21, in his Barrington home. Born in Elgin, Mr. Murphy was raised in Barrington and graduated from Barrington High School. He was a residential carpenter for several construction companies in the Chicago area and worked as a cabinetmaker before health problems forced him to quit in the late 1990s. “He was fun-loving,” said his sister, Mary, who added her brother’s two biggest loves were camping and fishing. “Whatever was outdoors, he did it.” Other survivors include two daughters, Patricia and Jennifer; his parents, Bob and Betty; three more sisters, Kathleen Kohlhase, Norah O’Brien and Eileen; and a brother, Dan. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the church.
