Robert B. Muth, 71, who for many years arranged funerals as a general manager at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, died Sunday, May 19, in Alden of Orland Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after a long illness. A Chicago native, Mr. Muth grew up behind his father’s funeral parlor at Cermak Road and Hoyne Avenue. In 1952, Mr. Muth graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science and went to work for Blake-Lamb. In 1960, he was named general manager of the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn. He also held that position at two other Blake-Lamb locations. “Bob’s whole life revolved around the families he served,” said Blake-Lamb President Rosemarie Lamb. Mr. Muth is survived by his wife, Faye A. Metcalf Muth; two sons, Robert and Richard; three daughters, Mary Nordland, Deborah Simms and Bernadette McGonagle; his mother, Gertrude; two stepdaughters, Lynn Perry and Diane Nowak; a stepson, Dean Metcalf; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services have been held.
