Emily D. Thomas, nee Lee, passed away May 17 from a heart attack. She was a community activist from Marquette Park in Chicago, who helped found SCOPE, Southwest Committee on Peaceful Equality and Southwest Women Working Together. She was also a valued officer in SCC, Southwest Community Congress. Beloved wife of the late Edward; loving mother of Robert (ex-wife Carla Thomas), Jerome (Roberta), Allen (Jeannie) Thomas and Andra Medea (partner Bonny Flaster); dear grandmother of Melinda (Jeff) Duckworth, Matthew, Melody and Martin Thomas. Memorial Service Sunday, May 26, 4 p.m. at Chicago Lawn United Methodist Church, St. Louis Ave. and 63rd Place, Chicago. Visitation Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at the church.
