How interesting the Tribune editorial staff feels that “One thing, though, should be abundantly clear: The public can and should be trusted with information, including information that might be alarming” (“What the White House knew,” Editorial, May 17).
How about the right to know that security in the skies is still far from perfect?
If the public has a right to know, one would think that the pilots entrusted with the lives of those paying passengers would have a right to defend the cockpit with deadly force.
These terrorists want us, the American people, dead.
We cannot afford another break-in of an airliner cockpit. U.S. airline pilots are qualified to fly; we pilots should be allowed the opportunity to become qualified to defend.
