An environmental group says it won’t appeal a General Motors Corp. air quality permit, averting a struggle with the auto company that some feared would cost 400 jobs in Lansing, Mich.

“We’ve reached an agreement. There will be no appeal,” says Natalia Petraszczuk of the Michigan Environmental Council.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality gave the permit to GM April 2 for the Lansing Craft Centre. GM needs the permit to nearly double emissions when using the plant to build the Chevrolet SSR.
