John Edward Hosty Sr., age 71, born in Chicago, late of Oak Lawn, returned to his God, May 22, 2002; beloved son of the late Joseph and Clara Hosty; darling husband of Anyta; loving dad of Margaret, John Jr., Elizabeth (Steven) Kalowski, Susan (Matthew) Murphy, Kathleen and Kevin; proud grandpa of Matthew, John, Lauren and Mark; dear brother of James and Joseph, Mary Nall, Sr. Alice Claire and Thomas (Elaine); dear nephew of Fr. Thomas Hosty; fond uncle of his nieces and nephews. Graduate of St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Mt. Carmel H.S., University of Idaho (B/Science-Botany), 1st Lt. USAF, V.F.W., member American Legion Post #854, Evergreen Park. Inducted to Brother Rice H.S. Hall of Fame “Mr. Brother Rice” January 23, 1989, proud member of Mt. Carmel Alumni, Brother Rice Dads’ Club, Brother Rice Alumni Dads, the “Has Been” Club, past-president Lourdes H.S. Fathers Club. His hobby was collecting friends and his joys were derived from making people happy and introducing them to each other. He was an organizer of events from the cradle on; his great talent was in rounding up “volunteers”. He was a good man and honorable.
