The May 23 Sports back page portrayal of Mark Prior’s pitching, in which you depicted pitch-by-pitch his six-inning effort, shows a desperate effort to portray anything positive about a very bad team.

Even if Prior becomes a modern-day Don Drysdale, it’s hype. A guy throws one great game; it’s way overstating it with the coverage you gave.

Of more importance should be Tribune Co.’s efforts to upgrade its team through promotion of youthful talent from its minor leagues, called “best in baseball” by many.

The Cubs have had a less than mediocre record while run by the Tribune Co. All the publicity in the world can’t hide a woefully dismal product.
