Michael T. Gorham, 41, Amelia Island, FL, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2002, at his residence. Born in Atlanta, GA, and raised in the Chicago area, he was the son of Thomas Gorham Jr. of Amelia Island and the late Maryellen Semmer Gorham, and had resided in Florida for the past five years. Mr. Gorham was a 1982 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH with a Bachelor’s degree in both Finance and Economics. He was an international banker who worked in Hong Kong, and served as a Director on both the Hong Kong Futures Exchange, Ltd. and the Toronto Futures Exchange. Mr. Gorham was a member of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission-Special Markets Group, and the Council Committee of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, Ltd. He spoke three languages, and was interested in sports, reading and music. Survivors, besides his father, include, a brother, John S. Gorham, Amelia Island and three sisters, Maura Boehm, Raleigh, NC, Kathryn O’Hagan, Evanston, IL, and Margaret Wanick, San Francisco, CA; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Reverend Father Bob Napier officiating. Interment will be in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
