Elaine Weil Fechheimer, Nov. 19, 1917-May 18, 2002, 84, a longtime resident of the Chicago area, died May 18 of cancer in San Diego. Born in Chicago, she went to school at Francis Parker, and college at Carleton College. She then returned to Chicago to teach. She was married to her beloved husband, Richard, for 63 years, until his recent death in February, 2002. For much of the time they lived in Highland Park, but moved to San Diego 17 years ago. She was active in the YWCA, North Shore Garden Club, Girl Scouts and PTA. Also, she was an excellent athlete and as a tennis player was ranked in the state. Survivors include her son, Peter of Menlo Park, CA; daughters, Nancy Jolly of New York, Alice Martin of Grand Junction, CO and Ellen Broslovsky of Exeter, CA; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society or San Diego Hospice, 4311 Third Ave., San Diego, CA 92103, would be appreciated.
