I am a senior at Fremd High School, the school the Brown’s Chicken murderers graduated from.
I have to say I am very disappointed with the Tribune’s sensational coverage of this discovery.
The article “Case weighs heavily on Fremd; Brown’s suspects once attended Palatine school” (Metro, May 21) focused on my school and current students’ reactions to the recent charges in the massacre. I was disappointed with the angle of the story.
As an editor on Fremd’s newspaper, I know the importance of getting different perspectives on an issue. I feel that it was irrelevant, however, to single out current Fremd students who were only about 5 years old at the time for reactions to the massacre.
The fact that the murderers graduated from Fremd does not say anything about the current school, as your article implied. Why create more anxiety by exaggerating the connection between murderers and a Fremd education?
