Your May 26 “Research cloning and life” was excellent.
I want to thank the Chicago Tribune editorial staff for standing up in favor of protecting human life from some who would clone, manipulate and destroy it at will in the name of science and for, it is hoped, good causes.
Some scientists want to create human embryos by cloning for purposes that might in the long run be of some benefit to people suffering certain diseases and in the shorter run will provide fame, fortune and further funding to their laboratories and projects.
Thank you for pointing out that, “The manufacture and destruction of human embryos for the sole purpose of scientific inquiry crosses a line we very much need to protect. The Senate should move forcefully to ban it.”
