The Tribune should be commended for balanced reporting on the Middle East crisis. Special-interest groups are a part of our democratic system; the news media, however, must make every effort to present all sides of an issue as fairly as possible.

I deplore Palestinian bombers who kill Israeli citizens as much as I resent organized Israeli soldiers killing innocent Palestinians in raids upon their cities. Destroying homes, crushing automobiles and smashing infrastructure, under Israeli-imposed media blackouts, is also an act of terrorism that must be told.

Clearly Palestinians, who have no Apache gunships, tanks or other sophisticated weaponry that have been provided to Israel through the courtesy of the American taxpayer, are the underdogs. Their options in response to further Israeli intrusions into their land are limited in scope.

Having the power to overwhelm the Palestinians does not make it right. The American public must know.
