Schmidt Sr., 67, of McHenry, devoted husband to Jean, nee Snow; loving father to Kathy (Jim) Riley of Park Ridge, Nicholas (Beth) Schmidt Jr. of Salem, WI, and Bob (Marge) Schmidt of Chicago; grandfather of seven; great-grandfather of one; brother to John, Clara, Catherine and Adam. Visitation on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr. (corner of Bull Valley Rd.), McHenry. Services on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Church of Holy Apostles, 5200 Bull Valley Rd., McHenry, with interment in church cemetery. Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Had been a truck driver for the City of Chicago. Spent many years bringing joy and help to others both as an amateur clown (Niki the Clown) and as an avid HAM radio operator.
