I am the wife of a D-Day veteran who was lucky enough to survive. I, too, have visited the cemetery in Normandy where more than 9,000 Americans lie buried. I have experienced the many emotions that accompany such a visit. Those emotions, composed of grief, pride of country and regret for the need of such loss, can be almost overwhelming.

The picture on the May 28 front page filled me with some disgust when I recall that Bush served in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War, a position he got because of strings pulled on his behalf.
