The Naperville Community Cultural Exchange, working in conjunction with the Naperville Arts League to bring artistic and cultural events to the city, has announced some of its “Sunday Afternoon in the Park” summer performances.
The outdoor series begins Sunday and runs through the city’s Labor Day weekend Last Fling celebration.
Among the performers scheduled to appear are Marcia Porter, presenting an opera review; the Muntu Dance Theater of Chicago; Legacy Cultural Theater group of Blue Island; and a Naperville Park District-sponsored dance troupe, said events chairman David Davenport. Negotiations are also under way with David Sinker, a former Second City troupe member who heads his own improvisational comedy group, Sinker Swim.
“Our goal is to highlight and showcase groups that might not be seen otherwise, or those performing in venues where it is hard to get noticed,” Davenport said.
The city’s cable outlet, NCTV, will tape all of the summer performances for later broadcast,
A courtyard south of the municipal center will be used for performances in nice weather. Acts will move to the community room inside City Hall if it rains.
