Scott Daniel Azuma, age 44, of Minneapolis, died Tuesday, May 28 from complications following a bone marrow transplant. He had fought a long, brave struggle with leukemia since September, 2000. A 1979 graduate of University of Illinois, Dr. Azuma received his Master’s Degree from Northwestern and his Doctorate in psychology and statistics from Loyola University of Chicago. Scott was also a trained physical therapist. Dr. Azuma is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cathy Grisham-Azuma; and his adoring daughter, Lauren. He is also survived by his loving parents, Steven and Tosuko; as well as three brothers, Keith of Mesa, AZ, Bruce and Dennis; one sister, Cynthia Azuma Moy; their spouses; and seven nieces and nephews, all from the Chicago area. A memorial celebration of his life will be held in downtown Chicago, June 15, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Please leave your name and number at 612-347-1679 to receive details about this event. Scott was a fantastic dad, whose kindness and generosity of spirit touched all who knew him. Taken from us much too soon, we will miss him always.
