Kids who attend a program called Dinosaurs Galore at the Evanston Public Library will find that the words to songs that they know well, such as “The Wheels on the Bus” and “Old MacDonald,” have been changed to include the sounds and moves of dinosaurs. They will also listen to stories about these prehistoric creatures that might include one about Sue who is now on display at the Field Museum.
The library is also kicking off its Summer Reading Game whose theme is “Reading Rocks,” which includes activities about pet rocks and creatures that live under rocks and in caves and the Rockin’ Bear story hour. Registration is required, so be sure to call ahead because programs fill up quickly. Programs are for Evanston residents only, but libraries throughout the state will have programs following the same theme, so check with your local library.
