The Cubs have to fire Don Baylor. For the three years he has been here the Cubs have been one of the worst offensive teams in baseball. He has created rifts among the personnel with his hiring of Mack Newton, his firing of last year’s pitching coach, Oscar Acosta, and a host of bad game decisions. Forget about it, he has lost the team. They have no confidence in him or his “hitting” coach, Jeff Pentland.
Hitting coach? The Cubs can’t hit because it’s too cold. They can’t hit when it’s hot. They try to pull everything instead of hitting to the opposite field. They swing at bad pitches–all the time–and take good ones.
I suggest they make Larry Rothschild the interim manager and end our misery. And you could probably take anyone and get a better hitting coach than Pentland.
