As the loving mother of three and the doting grandmother of eight, I regret saying this, but nobody mentions one interesting fact when discussing how great Nancy Drew was–and she was. Could one of the reasons she could jump into her roadster with her chums and fearlessly solve crimes be because there was no mom in her life, wringing her hands and reminding her to do the dishes (“Death of the original girl sleuth,” Editorial, May 30)? I hate to think so!
