I am reading more how practicing Catholics who receive forgiveness for their sins from their priests now should reciprocate and forgive their sinning priests. Forgiveness of a sinner may be religiously acceptable, but when the sinner’s sins are criminal (i.e., child abuse, sexual harassment), that entirely becomes a matter to be decided by the legal authorities. The occupation of the perpetrator is of no pertinence in the eyes of the law.
So go ahead and absolve the offending priests in the confines of your church if you will, but also be prepared to get them good lawyers because the cops are coming.
