In the June 5 Voice of the people, A.G. Gumbs writes that “The images of the aged and infirm pope being carted around from country to country, unable to walk, hold himself upright or read sermons completely, have ceased to be an inspiration and have now become a distressing spectacle.” What a role model a pope in a wheelchair would be. Put “the gentleman” out to pasture because he is physically handicapped? People who have seen him recently say that his mind is alert.
