That the Chicago Tribune would editorialize about a reckless homicide attempt on the lives of two innocent black people by five white, booze-soaked county cops with no mention of race or racism is an insult and the journalistic equivalent of the unjust verdict (“Worse than bozos,” Editorial, June 4).

From the street, to the courtroom, to the editorial page, Cook County African-Americans now have crystal clarity, based on violence, verdict and viewpoint, how we’re held by our community’s staple institutions of law, justice and the press:

– The cops view black people as animals to hunt.

– The courts view hunting black people as a circus act, not a criminal one.

– And the self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Newspaper” does not view cops hunting black people with impunity news worth mentioning.
