People used to joke that President Ford could not walk and chew gum at the same time. President Bush will do more damage to America than Al Qaeda does if he does not learn how to discover and thwart terrorists’ plans while still providing suspects like Jose Padilla and Yasser Esam Hamdi with the presumption of innocence, access to legal assistance and public trials within an independent judiciary.
