Rev. Philip Rodine Johnson, age 64, of Dwight, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Monday, June 17, 2002, beloved husband of Grace Johnson, nee Fisher and the late Susan Norstad; loving son of the late Clarence (the late Grace) Johnson; cherished father of Peter (Audra) Johnson of North Aurora, IL and brother of Robin (Norbert) Jaruszewski of Mission Viejo, CA; uncle of Paul (Ardith) Jaruszewski and the late John Jaruszewski; great-uncle of Hannah and Hilary Jaruszewski; grandfather of Michael and Cassie; sisters- and brothers-in-law Donald (Amy) Fisher, Alexander Fisher, Catherine (Russell) Yausie, Christine Fisher, Christine (Lorne) Sippel, Shirley Fisher, Mary (Ross) White, David Norstad, Gertrude Norstad, Nancy (Warren) Leuder; and many nieces and nephews. Graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN, 1960 and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN, 1963 with Master of Divinity. Ordained in Lutheran Church of America, 1965. Served parish in Pasadena, CA, 1965-67, Hospital Chaplaincy Lutheran General Hospital, 1968-69, Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicago, 1969-75, LSSI-Alcohol and Drug Dependency Program, 1975-89, Prison Chaplain-Dwight Correctional Center, 1989-2002. Funeral service Saturday, June 22, 2002, 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dwight, IL with Rev. Stephen Lauricella officiating. Visitation Friday, June 21, 2002, 5 to 8 p.m. at Hager Memorial Home, 201 Mazon Ave., Dwight. Burial Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight. Arrangements by Hager Memorial Home.
