William Robert Hajduk, age 87, of Round Lake Park, passed away June 23, 2002 at his residence. Forty year resident of Northbrook, he recently moved to Saddlebrook Farms. Veteran of WWII, serving in the Army 10th Engineers, 3rd Division in North Africa and Europe. He served as a Field Foreman for the Village of Winnetka for many years, and was a member of the American Legion Post 714 of Northbrook. He wed Elizabeth Agnes Michelau, June 1, 1946 at St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake, she preceded him in death in 1987. He is survived by one son, Barry Hajduk of Lake Villa; two daughters, Catherine (Len) Kula of Grayslake and Marilee (Mike) Berg of West Dundee; ten grandchildren, Wendy (Brice) Green, Sharon (Mark) Maciejewski, Kevin and Heather Hajduk, Ray, Jeff and Jeremy Hajduk, and Ryan, Nicole and Mike Berg; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alec and Jordan Green, Austin, Eric, and Kyle Maciewjewski; and his caregiver, Donna Kalinowska; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John W. Hajduk and William R. Hajduk Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Beloian and Sue Behrens; and one brother, Edward Hajduk. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Friends may visit 4 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake. Interment will be conducted at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.
