Otis A. Johnson, 91, of Arlington Heights, the former owner of Otis A. Johnson & Sons Builders in Chicago, died Friday, June 21, in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights. Born in Chicago, Mr. Johnson graduated from Lindblom High School and built and remodeled homes and commercial buildings before serving in the Navy for three years during World War II. After the war, Mr. Johnson returned to Chicago and resumed working in the construction industry. He settled in Arlington Heights, where he built his home and in the 1950s started his own construction company. He retired in the late 1970s. He was a Boy Scout troop leader in Arlington Heights and taught Scouts how to use tools. “He was very patient in showing them how to use the tools properly,” said his son, Glen, adding that his father also enjoyed helping neighbors with home-improvement projects. Other survivors include two sons, Alan and Barry; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services have been held.
