Southwest Airlines has announced that it will enforce a policy of charging passengers double fare if they require either a seatbelt extender or the arms raised between seats. I am certain this new policy is absolutely fair for pregnant women who are unable to fit in the short seatbelt–after all, they are carrying an extra passenger (or more) and should, by all rights, be charged for their inconsiderate behavior to other passengers.

Hint to all other airlines: This is the profit wave of the future. The majority of Americans are overweight. It makes financial sense to shorten the seatbelts, narrow the seats, lower the rate per seat but force more than half your passengers to buy two seats. What a concept!
