Alan R. Dorman, 73, of Huntley, a retired marketing manager, died of a stroke Monday, June 24, in Asheville, N.C., while visiting a relative. Born in Oak Park and raised in Elmwood Park, he graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School in Oak Park. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill., in 1951, he was drafted into the Marine Corps. He served two years in North Carolina and Puerto Rico. From 1953 until his retirement in 1983, Mr. Dorman worked for AT&T in Chicago. For the last 20 years of his employment, he was a marketing manager. Mr. Dorman taught Sunday school at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee and served as a congregation and day school chairman. “He was kind and thoughtful,” said his wife, Marilyn. Mr. Dorman is also survived by a daughter, Alison Lutsch; two sons, Keith and Scott; and seven grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. Visitation is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. in Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 407 Johnson St., East Dundee, followed by a service.
