The Blackhawks are bringing back Bob Probert for another year.

The 37-year-old left wing had one goal, three assists and 67 penalty minutes last season.

Contract terms weren’t disclosed, but his salary probably is going to be in the vicinity of the $850,000 he received in 2001-02.

The Hawks also re-signed goaltending consultant Vladislav Tretiak.

Tretiak, who ended his playing career in 1984 after leading the former Soviet Union to its third Olympic gold medal, has been the Hawks’ goaltending consultant for the past 12 years.

– The Montreal Canadiens hired former Anaheim Mighty Ducks head coach Guy Charron, 55, as an assistant to replace Guy Carbonneau, who left at the end of the season to become assistant general manager of the Dallas Stars.

– The Buffalo Sabres picked up one-year contract options on defenseman Jay McKee and center Curtis Brown and also extended qualifying offers to retain the rights to eight other players, including goaltender Martin Biron and forward Chris Gratton.
