While Will Smith just finished shooting the sequel to his box-office hit “Men in Black,” there’s one film he doesn’t think he’ll have another go at: “Independence Day.”

Roland Emmerich, who co-wrote and directed the 1996 film, has expressed interest in helming a sequel to the blockbuster, but Smith doesn’t think the project will ever see the light of day.

“Roland’s had some scripts that he hasn’t liked,” Smith said. “That one, I think, will never happen.”

Meanwhile, Smith is planning to start production on a sequel to 1995’s “Bad Boys,” re-teaming with co-star Martin Lawrence.

“We start that in the middle of August,” he says. “It’s a go.”

In related news, “Men in Black 2” producer Walter F. Parkes is trying to put together a sequel of his own, to 1998’s “The Mask of Zorro.”

“We’ve been struggling to get a `Zorro’ sequel together,” Parkes says. “`Zorro’ did about $100 million, but it was very successful in video and it was kind of a beloved movie.”

But it’s unsure whether there’s much of a storyline to build upon.

“We ended the movie with the two sexiest people on Earth happily married. What fun is there in that?” asks Parkes.

“Independence Day,” which cost about $75 million to make, made just under $798 million worldwide.
