June Anne Maihack, 81, of Arlington Heights, a retired bookkeeper, died of cancer Sunday, June 23, in The Lutheran Home & Services in Arlington Heights. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Maihack worked for 25 years at Stivers Temporary Personnel in Schaumburg and Arlington Heights. She started as a temporary secretary and over the years became responsible for managing the agency in Arlington Heights and then in Schaumburg, from which she retired in 1986. In 1991 Mrs. Maihack came out of retirement to work as a bookkeeper at St. Peter Lutheran Church. She stopped working in 1996 and spent her time traveling throughout the United States. “She liked to drive, and I liked to sleep,” said her husband, Clarence. “It was a great combination.” Mrs. Maihack is also survived by a stepdaughter, Lisa Gabriel; a sister, Evelyn Lanoch; two brothers, Robert and Donald Colburn; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in The Lutheran Home & Services chapel, 800 W. Oakton St., Arlington Heights. Visitation will follow from 3 to 8 p.m. in Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. A service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights.
