Simon Vincent Chaplan, age 92, formerly of Elmhurst, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, WI. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at Chapel Hill Gardens on Roosevelt Road in Elmhurst with Fr. Brad Baker officiating. Military graveside services will be held. A short visitation will be held there from 1 until 2 p.m. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, WI is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to Bridging Generations at Columbia Health Care Center at 323 W. Monroe St., Wyocena, WI 53969, for the purchase of a bus.
