I am heartened to note that it’s finally dawning upon the American people that the real legacy of Bill Clinton is not his human weaknesses but his vision and hard work for America to continue to remain great (“Thanking Clinton,” Voice of the people, June 22).

Clinton’s humble background and tough childhood, which gave him the ability to connect with ordinary folks and to understand their problems, made him one of the most popular world figures that the 20th Century ever produced.

His pragmatic social, economic and foreign policies helped to provide hope for millions of poor and disenfranchised across the world–a hope for peace, prosperity and freedom.

Trying to tarnish his legacy is going to be a hard sell for Clinton’s detractors, given his record of achievements as a public servant and his popularity with the masses.

I miss Clinton’s brilliant speeches as much as the good economic times we all enjoyed under his watch.
