I totally disagree with Mike Lynch’s “Fat passengers should pay for space” (Commentary, June 21). Southwest and other airlines are perfectly capable of providing roomy seats for all passengers, regardless of size. Instead, to pump up profits, people are crammed into too-small seats.

Some people are heavier due to illness or medication. Not every heavy person is an overeater. The notion of charging larger people for an extra seat is an insult to all who fly.
