This is in response to Renee Farrell’s letter. The love-it-or-leave-it crowd is under the misconception that American patriotism is about stifling dissent and embracing whatever the government proclaims.
Patriots in the Soviet Union or the Third Reich may have believed that dissent was dangerous. True American patriots, however, embrace dissent. Dissent and discussion are how American society is improved.
