Ray J. Kyes, 86, of Montgomery, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2002 at the Tillers in Oswego. He was born Oct. 8, 1915 in Aurora, IL, the son of Ray A. and Anna Giese Kyes. Survived by his wife, Dora, nee Stathis, of Montgomery; four daughters, Judy (Ronald) Gramme of Aurora, Lucy of South Carolina, Mary Kyes of Downers Grove and Anna (Robert) Mcmahon of Pleasant Prairie, WI; 11 grandchildren, Patricia (Thomas) Bonifas, Annette (Richard) Wolf, Scott (Abigail) Gramme, John (Debbie) Gramme, Wayne, Mari, Tim, Judi and Jennifer Moore, Katie and John Mcmahon and 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marcella Gilman of Gardena, CA; a brother, Quenton Kyes of Cambridge, WI; sisters-in-law, Catherine Stathis, all of Montgomery and Catherine Kyes of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by two special cousins, James and Martha Lesiotis of Montgomery; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Everette and Robert (Violet) Kyes; sister, Helen Graham; sister-in-law, Nellie Kyes; brothers- in-law, Chris Stathis and George Stathis; and a great-grandchild, Thomas Ronald. Ray was a member of St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church. He was employed many years in the grocery business and as a meat cutter the last 18 years at Edmeier Grocery Store in Hinckley. He was a retired Captain from the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, former Secretary/ Treasurer of the Kane County Fireman’s Association and a member of the Busy Bees Senior Club of his church. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002 at Dieterle Memorial Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2002 at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 E. Fifth Ave., Aurora.
