With each suicide bombing in Israel, talk about expelling Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat from the region becomes more and more serious. While Arafat is, indeed, a terrorist, focusing so much on his personal role in Palestinian terror may be counterproductive and even dangerous.
Given Arafat’s advanced age, whether he is expelled, is liquidated or dies of natural causes, we will soon live in a post-Arafat world. And when that day comes, Israel will find itself under great pressure to make large-scale concessions to the Palestinians.
In reality, however, until there is a radical change in Palestinian mentality, any state given them will be a terrorist one, with or without Arafat. As long as Muslim leaders preach hatred, as long as the suicide terror summer camps continue to brainwash Palestinian children, there will never be peace–only death.
