Anton J. “Tony” Walter, age 69, passed away on June 28, 2002 at home. He was a resident of Sun City in Huntley. Beloved husband of Margaret, nee Gutjahr; loving father of Tony, Heide (Tom) Jakiel, John (Dianne); proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, Christy, Ryan, Jackie, Scott, Amy, Susie, Natalie, Valerie and Madison; fond brother of John (Helen), Peter (Cathy), Mike (Elsa) and Anni (Eddy) Palffy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He will be remembered as being a Veteran of the Korean War, Past Commander of American Legion Post 36, Retired Founder of Walter Tool & Mfg., Board of Directors Bloomingdale Bank and Trust. Visitation will be Monday, July 1 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 Seminary Ave., Woodstock, 815-338-1710. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Huntley.
