My take on the Chicago Public Schools is: Why keep pouring good money after bad (“232 schools could face big exodus; Law lets pupils flee institutions that are failing,” Page 1, July 16)?
By letting the students choose another school that is not failing, are we not feeding a system of failure?
Business leaders must be choking over the plan.
When a business is not up to par, the owners close that location.
Why would the City of Chicago keep feeding a dead horse?
Close the schools that are not performing–either fire the teachers, with or without tenure, or put the whole school on probation (and not for two to three years; more like six months).
School employees either do their work well or go job hunting.
The plan as it now exists will cost a fortune by sending kids all over the city in buses.
Time to think about the voucher system.
