Water is essential to human life but can also be as dangerous to the unwary as a loaded gun or a live grenade. As a society, we apparently have failed miserably in getting people to realize that water can be part of a wonderful time of fun and still be an implacable danger.
We should go ahead and utilize the pleasures of the water but clearly understand that just a few seconds under the surface can create instant panic and end a life.
